Tutorial 6 of 7

DAO votes, token unlocks and calendar reminders

Beginner 6 min

Check open proposals and vote concentration, model vesting schedules, and export proposal deadlines and unlock dates as an .ics calendar.

Governance and supply events are dates: a vote closes, a cliff ends, a tranche unlocks. Chainscope collects them on one timeline and exports them to your calendar.

1. Open the template

File → Templates… → DAO votes and token unlocks. It runs four checks:

CheckToolData
Aave DAO proposalsDAO Governance ExplorerLive Snapshot data of aavedao.eth
Sample DAO with a quorum gap (sample data)DAO Governance ExplorerThe tool's offline example
Team vesting: 10 % TGE, 12-month cliffToken Unlock ExplorerA monthly schedule over 36 months
Investor tranchesToken Unlock ExplorerThree dated tranches

2. Governance findings

For the sample DAO the dashboard shows two warnings:

  • High: 2 voters together control more than half of the voting power cast on the analysed proposal. (the Nakamoto coefficient of the vote)
  • Medium: The proposal “Fund grants program Q4” closed at only 67 % of its quorum. While a vote is still open, the same finding reads … has reached only 67 % of its quorum.

Seven or fewer voters with a majority is rated medium, three or fewer high. Open proposals add an info finding with their closing date. Chainscope compares the dates with today, so a snapshot that the tool still calls active counts as closed once its end date has passed. For on-chain Governor contracts and treasuries, open More options in the DAO check and enter the Governor contract or Treasury address.

3. Unlock findings

The Token Unlock Explorer models the schedule; Chainscope rates the next unlock by distance and size. With Flag token unlocks within (days) set to 45 for this case, the investor tranche — 125,000 XYZ, 25 % of the supply — is rated High while it is less than 45 days away. Change the window in File → Case settings… and run the check again.

To audit a real OpenZeppelin VestingWallet, switch Data source to Audit a VestingWallet on chain and enter its address; Chainscope flags a wallet whose balance and releases do not match the schedule.

4. The timeline

Press 5. Past proposal starts and ends and every unlock date are sorted by day; a Today marker separates the past from the upcoming events. Filter with Upcoming only, Tool events, Re-check dates or Journal.

5. Export to your calendar

Press Export … reminders (.ics). The file contains every upcoming date — proposal deadlines, unlocks and the Re-check by dates of your checks — as calendar events with an alarm. The alarm lead time is Calendar alarm before each date (days) in the case settings (3 days by default). Import the file into any calendar app; re-export after new runs, because schedules and proposals change.

Next: automate with the API, MCP and App Bridge.
